Artist's Description
"My Violin Whispers Music in the Night" is a digital watercolor by Nikki Smith.
As I was creating this piece, I had the strangest notion that if one listened close enough you could hear the soul of a musical instrument in the quiet of the night. That perhaps they were never really silent, if only we knew how to listen. It was a persistent thought, and one I had to find a way to convey through my artwork.
The musical score in this piece is portions of the 1720 Partita I for Solo Violin by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685�1750). I listened to this music while composing the artwork and it just felt Right. It spoke to me, or rather sang in musical whispers on the wind.
